Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 22, 2026
This is the privacy policy for ricecatalyst.org. It tells you what the operator of Ricecatalyst (“we”) collects, how it is used and where to send questions, namely [email protected]. Readers sometimes write about unpublished research or school matters; please leave out names of students, patients or participants.
Subscriber information
Where a newsletter is offered, your email address is used to send what you asked for. You can leave at any time using the link in a message, or you can write to [email protected]; a minimal record may be kept so the request is respected.
Who else handles information
We rely on third-party services for hosting, security, delivery and email, and, if switched on, advertising and embedded content. Such providers handle information to perform their service, and several operate under policies of their own.
Moving information across borders
Information may be handled by service providers in other countries, which may have different data protection standards. Where required, suitable safeguards are applied to those transfers.
Rights you may have
Where the law of your location provides, you may be able to ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your information, decline sale, sharing or targeted advertising, and restrict some uses of sensitive information. Send requests to [email protected].
When you browse the site
When a browser asks for a page on ricecatalyst.org, the servers that deliver it may automatically log information including your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page and the time of the request.
Information you send by email
If you email [email protected] or use a form where one is offered, we receive the details you choose to send, such as a name, address and message. If your message concerns a study or classroom, describe it in general terms rather than naming individuals. We use this to reply, check facts, handle corrections and keep a record of the exchange.
Safety of your data
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to guard information against loss, misuse and unwanted access. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so please avoid sending passwords or financial details by email.
Browser choices
Your browser settings allow you to review and remove stored cookies. Turning cookies off might change some features, and browser settings do not control every method of collection.
Where a browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal or a comparable opt-out signal, we honor it for advertising and sharing choices to the extent applicable law calls for it. The older Do Not Track setting is not recognized in the same way by every service, so it may not change what third parties do.
Information about children
We do not target anyone under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, tell us at [email protected] and we will look into it and delete what should not be held.
Analytics, advertising and cookies
Cookies, pixels and comparable tools are used where enabled to remember preferences, measure traffic with analytics tools, display advertising and attribute affiliate referrals. Which tools are running varies as the site develops.
Changes over time
This policy can be updated as the site or the law changes. The effective date at the top shows the latest version, and where the law requires additional notice or consent for a material change, we will provide it.
Keeping and deleting records
Information is kept for as long as there is a genuine purpose: correspondence for as long as the matter is open and a while after, logs for a short period needed for security and upkeep, and mailing details until you opt out. Legal duties can extend these periods.
